I’m an optometrist currently practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you are local, I’d love to see you as a patient! My practice is Tri-City Optometry and I am based in the East Bay – specifically, Newark, CA which is adjacent to Fremont and Union City.

Focus of my practice

I’m a contact lens and low-vision specialist, but serve a broad range of patients as a primary care optometrist:

  • Primary Eye Care. Complete eye care services for adults & children, including emergency services.
  • Contact Lens Fitting & Training. Expertise in soft & rigid contact lens fittings, Keratoconus treatment, post-surgical and multi-focal contact lenses.
  • Low Vision. Low vision evaluation and device recommendation.
  • Disease Management. Testing for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration & diabetes management.
  • LASIK & Cataract Co-management. Collaboration with leading Ophthalmologists for pre- and post-operative LASIK care.

Dr. Shital Chatwani, O.D., F.A.A.O

Dr. Shital Chatwani

As a graduate of Indiana University’s School of Optometry, Dr. Chatwani completed her Residency at the top-ranked UC Berkeley School of Optometry where she specialized in Contact Lens and Low Vision care. During her Residency, Dr. Chatwani served as a Clinical Instructor at UC Berkeley and the California School for the Blind. Prior to opening her private practice, Dr. Chatwani gained several years of experience working at Eye Physicians of the East Bay, a leading Ophthalmology practice in Oakland, CA. In addition, she was a practicing Optometrist at Livermore Optometry Group.

Dr. Chatwani’s is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She is also a member of the Alameda Contra Costa County Optometric Society, California Optometric Association, and American Optometric Association

Dr. Chatwani and her husband, Robert, have two daughters named Diya and Shreya, and a son named Niyam. Together they enjoy play dates at the park, travel, and lots of outdoor activities.
